Alternative Rock
Ibis and Fight the Fear

Interweaving elements of beautiful melody and heavy disdain, Ibis’ music tips a cap to the odd-time compositions of Porcupine Tree and Soundgarden, while realizing the melodic accessibility of Dave Matthews Band. Fresh off the release of their debut EP, “Favors for Strangers,” the quintet’s first single “Redirectionalized” has already received airplay on Hartford’s Radio 104.1. Ibis’ unique brand of alternative/progressive rock has also been featured in publications such as Connecticut Magazine.

Ibis is a constantly-evolving faction of internal and external influences, detailed compositions, and gratifying improvisations. “Ibis has impressed me with their range of styles and arrangements. Ibis will make you want to think, and Ibis will make you want to ROCK!” — Fred Schane, Production Manager / F.O.H. Sound Engineer, Infinity Hall. Ibis’ songs touch upon a broad number of themes, but most often deal with themes of empathy, tolerance, and societal apathy. Songs like, “Allegory” and “Again” call for people to question the existential nature of “accepted truths,” and to realize that everyone has a voice and a unique perspective. As their audience grows, Ibis seeks to spread these messages while wielding their own unique perspective and voice.

Fight the Fear is psycho-progressive-disco-funk-pop-rock... let's just call it Rock-n-Soul. Having just won the title of BEST OVER ALL BAND in the 2nd Annual Connecticut Music Awards, Fight the Fear is quickly becoming one of Connecticut's biggest bands. Fight the Fear is musicianship, awareness, and passion; but mostly we're just spicy rock and roll.

Ibis is a constantly-evolving faction of internal and external influences, detailed compositions, and frustrating and gratifying improvisations juxtaposed in the best interest of the art’s creation. “Ibis has impressed me with their range of styles and arrangements. Ibis’ songs touch upon a broad number of themes, but most often deal with themes of empathy, alienation, and the perpetuated superficiality and apathy within society.

Fight the Fear is the result of an initial collaboration between Gabrielle Lakshmi (lead vocals/keys) and Jaco Lindito (drums/vocals) dating back to 2008; they would call this collaboration Lakshmi for obvious reasons. After recording an EP, the duo began searching for musicians to bring the contents of the record to the stage. Alex Beaupre (guitar/vocals) joined the project in April of 2009 as well as several other revolving guitarists and drummers. It was at the beginning of summer 2009 when Alex suggested that his long-time friend and writing partner Andrew Ciarlelli (bass/guitar) be considered for the band. After listening to the work that Alex and Andrew had composed as a duo it became very clear to Jaco and Gabrielle that their collaboration of two was going to become a collaboration of four. The project went ahead as Lakshmi.

Six months of furious writing followed and by January of 2010 the band was producing and recording their first LP. On August 17th, 2010 Lakshmi released their debut record. Reviews were positive and the band enjoyed some stellar accolades such as playing a date on the Van's Warped Tour as well as an opening spot for Bon Jovi at the Mohegan Sun Arena. It soon became clear to the band however that the moniker Lakshmi was tough to remember; mispronunciations were abound and people were forgetting the name just as quickly as they had heard it. It was time for a change.

On December 1st, 2011, Lakshmi became Fight the Fear, a name they had used as a song title on the Lakshmi LP. Since then, Fight the Fear has been featured in an independent film, named BEST INDIE BAND in the First Annual Connecticut Music Awards, and has produced and recorded a full-length LP which they accomplished in their studio apartment. The LP, entitled NO SUGAR ADDED was released on June 26th, 2013.
