CATHERINE ELLIOTT BIO
Catherine M. Elliott is a contemporary artist whose work is evocative of the American Impressionistic Style of painting. The wonder of these works are in its fresh liberation of color and light offering the viewer a sense of awe and peace. The paintings explore atmospheric conditions capturing a moment in time and place invoking the viewer to intimately see the sublime. Ms. Elliott has created numerous commissioned pieces, both commercial and private. She is an elected member of the Lyme Art Association in Old Lyme, Connecticut, a legacy left by nineteenth century artists, and is today a showcase of notable artists.
Washed in vivid color hues and patterns of light, the paintings of award-winning Connecticut artist Catherine M Elliott are works that speak of her many years of the practice of painting. Each piece is uniquely different capturing the scene that was in front of her. She paints in an impressionistic style giving life and breath to the completed painting. Having a long history of plein air painting she enjoys and is comfortable in a busy city setting as well as a peaceful pastoral location. The love of the natural world is quite evident in her interpretation And inspiration she sees. Her work graces books, magazine articles and prints. She also teaches painting workshops at her studio and in Ireland. Enjoy the images here on this website.
