Jen Lowe brings her second annual Super Sensitive Dude-A-Palooza to Infinity Hall Hartford. The night will feature some of the best local musicians in town (in no particular order of sensitivity); Auburn Mode, Michael Cleary, Lee Sylvestre, Chip Fenney, Paul Lombardo, Billy Megofna, Dennis Fancher, John Corvo, Ed Corvo, Alan Friedman, Jay Wiggin and Scott Wattel. Jen Lowe brings her poetic verses to life with unyielding melodies and a sense of humor. She is a true natural performer, whether she’s pounding ferociously on a djembe or gently finger-picking her old guitar. For the Dude-A-Palooza Jen’s love of spontaneity and good music come together in the perfect preholiday cocktail of songs and stories with some of Hartford’s top vocalists, musicians and songwriters. We are excited to announce that we’ll be doing a special collection of used instruments for the Charter Oak Cultural Center’s Hartford All-City Youth Orchestra at the Super Sensitive Dude-A-Palooza!

That’s right, time to pull out that old guitar or spare drum sticks or maybe a violin that you’ve got stored in the back closet and give it to a young student who’ll put it great use! Charter Oak Cultural Center is looking for gently used instruments. These include band and orchestra instruments, as well as keyboards and guitars. Although not essential, people may take their instruments to be cleaned and prepped before donation. This will help to offset some of Charter Oak's expenses.

Charter Oak Cultural Center's mission is to do the work of social justice through the arts. They provide free arts classes for Hartford youth, both on site and in partner locations. Charter Oak's Youth Arts Institute reaches nearly 1,000 of Hartford's inner-city children, ages 6 through 18, with arts and literacy-based classes held after-school, during-school, and in the summer. In Hartford, 46% of children live in poverty, one of the highest rates of child poverty in the nation. Charter Oak started the Hartford All-City Youth Orchestra (HACYO) in 2013. Any Hartford resident grade 6 -12, with basic technical skills on an instrument, is welcome to join. Charter Oak offers free ensemble and private instruction, loaner instruments, and transportation arrangements to all youth orchestra members. Our programs provide a safe and accepting place that encourages lifelong musical learning for all. We proclaim "Violins not Violence!"
