The year was 1982 and John Cafferty was commissioned to write and perform the soundtrack for a pilot film. The rest is history: “Eddie&the Cruisers” became a rock cult classic with a triple-platinum soundtrack. JC’s soulful, raspy voice propelled the movie’s theme “On the Dark Side” to Number One on the Billboard Rock charts and MTV Video charts, while the movie’s second hit “Tender Years” - featuring band mate Michael “Tunes” Antunes the multi-talented sax player and co-star of the film - rose into the Top Ten of the Billboard AC charts.

Working with his Beaver Brown Band beginning in 1973 - the legendary live performers on the Northeast shore touring circuit were frequently joined on stage by friends such as Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Dion, Mitch Ryder, Gary U.S. Bonds and the list goes on - Cafferty’s follow-up album “Tough All Over” would again score success. The title track “Tough All Over” gave this rocker his second Number One on the Rock Charts, while the single “C-I-T-Y” ran into the Billboard Top Twenty.

With two multi-platinum soundtrack albums and over 35 songs appearing in movies - John Cafferty’s film credits include Sylvestor Stallone’s “Rocky IV” and “Cobra”, the 1999 blockbuster “There’s Something About Mary”, “Jersey Girl”, and the rock’n’roll cult classics “Eddie and the Cruisers I&II”.
