06/30/10 • John McEuen & Performing with Special Guest David Amram w/ opener Christopher Robin • 08:00 PM
A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (summer of 1966), John continues with the NGDB, now in their 44th year. Concurrently, after their 1977 trip to Russia for 28 sold out concerts (1st American band there!), multi-instrumentalist McEuen began to broaden his artistic pursuits with solo performing, film scoring, concert production, and unusual award-winning CDs to Sesame Street, while keeping up an active road schedule - both solo and with his lifetime partners in music.
Onstage, McEuen incorporates many vintage instruments with instrumental wizardry that keeps the audience entranced as he wraps notes around stories of his musical past, all causing reviewers to call him the String Wizard.
His love for the history of acoustic music, and his joy at being onstage, is evident to all those who see him and hear him; every show is different in its explorations of that history and music. With Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, McEuen has made over 35 albums, including the landmark platinum-selling Will The Circle Be Unbroken, instigated by John in 1971 for United Artists. With 5 solo albums, a multiple award winning DVD, and film scores McEuen has been the recipient of the Western Heritage Award, Grammy and Emmy nominations; John's recent production of Steve Martin - The Crow was just honored with a Grammy.. and Mr. Bojangles was inducted in to the 2010 Grammy Hall of Fame as a 'most important historic recording'!
McEuen's broad spectrum of music Americana has made John known as America's instrumental poet. With Bluegrass, film score music, guitar and banjo in strange tunings, music from 1750-2000, favorite Dirt Band songs and their background, his musical impressions from over 40 years of worldwide travels are brought to the stage with performing expertise that sets him apart from others, as he focuses on acoustic guitar, banjo, fiddle, and mandolin.
www.johnmceuen.com tells more of his story, along with video, audio, and parts of his upcoming book - What the Pluck Happened?

Christopher Robin has accomplished what every musician sets out to do; he has developed a unique, individual voice, a music undeniably his own, a sound that is recognizable from the first note. Christopher said, "All of my songs are true stories - I've had residency in seven different states - and there's been a lot of stories. They're about all the things I've done, from sailing on tall ships to being a cowboy in Colorado, to playing for Kings, Queens, Princes and Princesses in Europe, or the Hells Angels in California, to your typical love-on-the-rocks kind of thing."
"After more than a decade of paying his dues and soaking up the wisdom of seasoned, storied performers, however, Christopher Robin is now poised to become one himself" - Play Magazine
With three CD's under his belt, Christopher and his band of all-star players, including his "Little Brother" Trevor Taylor, continue to maintain an extensive national touring schedule.
