Dirt Floor Studio presents: Man's Body & Soul Case

Dirt Floor Studio presents 2 incredible bands at Infinity Hall Norfolk. Artists Man’s Body and Soul Case will deliver! Come grab a pair of tickets and enjoy a night of incredible music.

Man’s Body is a trans-American “soft punk” trio consisting of members based in L.A. and Chicago. Live, the band is supplemented by a rhythm section to make it a five-piece. The group, led by Los Angeles singer/songwriter Greg Franco, self-released its debut EP, Found, last year, and are currently touring the East Coast in celebration of their recent debut full-length CD, called Put Your Family In It. The

diverse album ranges from sweet melodic anthems like “Man’s Body Theme” to post-punk rave-ups, like “Straight Shooter”.

Artist Bio

Greg Franco is a veteran rock and roller, born in Hollywood. Because of this it seemed like showbiz could be in his blood. An avid record collector and DJ, his heroes were rockers from all over, UK/NYC/etc. Punk rock was also in his backyard; it seemed so far away. But not for long. At 16 years old he enlisted his step brother Danny and formed a band called The Blasphemous Yellow. They played the Anti Club and Lhasa Club with Psi Com (Perry Farrell's first band) and Tex & the Horseheads, thrust from their Suburban lives into the gritty East Hollywood scene. Franco went to UCLA and got a History degree in Latin American Studies. He worshipped the Minutemen and D. Boon, a smart punk/funk rocker who died too young. His next band, Ferdinand (1994-2003), played the 90s Silverlake scene, toured the Pacific NW, and played with bands like Smart Went Crazy and Possum Dixon. In 2004 Franco quit Ferdinand to make a record in New Zealand with David Kilgour and Robert Scott (members of The Clean). The resulting Southpawwest took his music to a new level, and when he came back, he formed Rough Church. He has released 8 records with Rough Church on his own label, Beautiful Workhorse, and on Powertool Records. Greg has toured with Rough Church and solo all over the U.S., New Zealand and Australia.

J. Niimi has been involved in the Chicago music scene since the late ‘80s, as a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, lyricist, engineer, and writer. His trans-continental band Ashtray Boy is celebrating its 25th year; their tenth and most recent album is Painted With the Mouth (Minty Fresh).

Marco Obaya is a young musician whose gig spans from drums to vocals, metal to jazz. His Chicago Fusion band, Dave Wolak and the Drastic Plastics, performs regularly around the Sub-Chicago bar scene, while his punk rock band The Remedies just released their 2nd full-length record. Since age 8, Obaya has been diving into as many cultures of music as possible, and Man's Body is no exception – they opened a door to an entirely new world.
