Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band with The Naked Stills

Talking with Lead Singer, Kat Wright, from Kat Wright and The Indomitable Soul Band

From Burlington to Boston the Northeast is always bustling with talent. That’s why you won’t want to miss this double bill of pure sonic joy. Kat Wright might be reminiscent of Amy Winehouse but with a vibe and vocals distinctly her own. Backed by her stellar band including horn section, there is no mystery in watching them invoke their namesake of Indomitable Soul. Joining them are Boston’s The Naked Stills who critics hail as a great original band with a bright future blending influences from The Band and U2 to the Counting Crows and The Shins. Rock meets Americana with a little dose of Pop, The Naked Stills are a band well worth getting to know now so you can tell all your friends you knew them when!

Artist Bio

Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band are on a mission to fill you with music that aims right for the heart and moves your soul without overlooking your ass … and they won't be defeated in their quest.

It all starts with the voice of Kat Wright, which proves immediately enchanting to any listener. It's delicate yet powerful; gritty yet highly emotive; sultry and dynamic. It promises and delivers a connection with something outside of yourself. Her style shares a timeless quality with some of history's greatest singers while remaining something authentic you haven't heard ever before. These days, as we cycle through scores of new groups looking for a little of that old school magic we're constantly confronted with watered down throwback acts and impersonators of genuine soul. Kat Wright's powerhouse vocals diagnose this modern day ailment and heal it on the spot.

The Indomitable Soul Band's roots draw heavily from all American music to forge a sound that is all their own. Blending Memphis soul and new school R&B with a level of improvisation that more than a few Vermont based bands have been known for, this 7 piece accompaniment is the perfect complement to Kat's captivating, genuine vibe. Composed of a rock solid core and a powerful horn section, the ISB keeps you moving and lays it all on the line at every show.

Kat Wright & The Indomitable Soul Band have earned a reputation in Burlington, VT for packing every house they play and always sending people out feeling better than when they walked in. With their first EP in hand (Introducing...), their quest is breaking new ground and they're aiming right for you.

The Naked Stills released its debut full length album Cochecho in November 2012 to a sold out Hard Rock Cafe in Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in early 2009 by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Rocco DeRosa and guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Daniel King, The Naked Stills was born out of their mutual love for the pioneering folk, blues, and rock movements of the ‘60s and ‘70s. The two began writing material together and performing at local bars and clubs in the Boston area, when drummer Doug Standley was introduced to the duo at an open mic and instantly found a connection with their sound. Shortly thereafter, fellow Massachusetts native and bassist Ryan Callahan joined the band, completing their current lineup.

With a budding and impressive resume of shows played in New York City and Boston, and winning a slot on WBOS’ Earthfest, the Naked Stills are already making themselves heard all over the northeast. Cochecho boasts a hooky blend of rock and Americana without a fear of a healthy dose of pop. The Naked Stills’ influences, including Ryan Adams, Wilco, and Dawes, can be heard throughout the album, but they also aren’t without the occasional bluesy sound, as heard in “Is That Enough.” The lead track, “Impossible,” pulls the listener in from the start with a full rock and roll sound, and the bass groove on “Let It Go” will keep you there. “Touchdown in Boston” is sure to touch the heart of any beantown native as it paints a perfect picture of the bleak nature of Boston in the winter and the “homelessness” of someone who travels more than they care to while searching for somewhere to grow roots. Cochecho blends genres seamlessly to maintain a cohesive feel as an album, but every track can also stand on its own.
