NBC's "The Voice" Winner Sawyer Fredericks

Months before becoming the youngest winner of NBC’s “The Voice,” Connecticut native Sawyer Fredericks found his way into the hearts of music lovers with his rendition of “I’m a Man of Constant Sorrow.” It was his powerful performance of Neil Young’s “Old Man” (see video clip), that sealed the deal, selling nearly 1 million singles on iTunes, a feat that shattered the previous record. Since winning the 8th season, the then 17-year-old released his self-titled debut and kept busy touring with his incredible band. Be there as he makes his return to our Infinity Hall Norfolk stage!!

Artist Bio

Sawyer Fredericks

19 year old Singer-songwriter Sawyer Fredericks, hailing from his family's farm in central New York State, is fast establishing himself as an authentic original, Americana artist with an old soul. His deep, beyond-his-years lyrics and melodies, raw, soulful vocals, and powerful live performances have attracted an ever growing number of devoted fans of all ages, selling out shows throughout the US. As a folk/blues singer-songwriter, who cut his teeth at local farmers markets, open mics, and iconic New York venues like Caffe Lena, the Towne Crier Cafe, and The Bitter End, Sawyer seemed an unlikely match for reality tv, but quickly won over broad audiences with his genuine delivery and unique arrangements of classic songs, going on to win season 8 of NBC's The Voice. Fresh from that whirlwind, Sawyer went forward with the release of his major label debut, A Good Storm, with Republic Records, an impressive blend of soulful Folk, blues, and rock, entirely written or co-written by Sawyer. His 2016 A Good Storm Tour included 62 shows across the US. For 2018, Sawyer has once again gone independent; the highly-anticipated Hide Your Ghost, entirely written and produced by Fredericks, sheds the high gloss major label treatment, and stays true to Fredericks’s honest and elegantly stripped down style, a self-described “free range folk”, incorporating elements of blues, roots rock, and jazz with live instrumental arrangements throughout. Considered one of the top ten Americana Albums of 2018 so far, Chris Griffy of AXS magazine calls Hide Your Ghost “a bluesy folk rocker with a no-frills production that relies on Fredericks' raw voice to carry the emotional weight.” Beginning in June, Fredericks embarks on an extensive tour throughout the US and Canada, in support of Hide Your Ghost. Sydney Worthley is a shining young singer/songwriter from New York’s capital region who melds country, pop, folk, and rock into a sound all her own. Sydney’s debut album, Strong, is a 14-track roller coaster built on strength, courage, and perseverance. From the warm opening guitar riff of title-track “Strong”, to the brooding refrain of “Better Than You”, to the rock anthem “Part of Me”, Strong takes a powerful stance in the face of tremendous loss and heartbreak.

Sydney began performing in 2012 and, shortly thereafter, earned the Saratoga County Rising Star Award for her outstanding ability and achievement. She continued performing and recording alongside Rick Bolton and 7-time Grammy Award winning producer Joel Moss. In 2014, she won the Capital Region Teen Idol competition. Tragedy struck her family a year later when her grandmothers passed away only a few months apart. Sydney’s immense loss fueled her creative energy and inspired many of the songs on her debut album.

In 2016, Sydney met Andrew Gabriel of Ambassador Music Group (AMG). Recognizing Sydney’s talent, Andrew signed her to AMG and, later that year, produced Strong. Sydney has since performed events for The Clark Art Institute in MA and Albany’s annual Tulip Festival. She has also earned a regular spot on Albany radio’s 88.3 WVCR and 97.7 WEXT. One of our new discoveries in the Local 518 is Sydney Worthley. Sydney came in to record a 518 Session and has captivated our hearts. Yours will be captured, too. – WEXT

We all, at some point, face hardship or feel isolated. Sydney is passionate about sharing her experiences to help others feel connected and understood, and to find the strength to go on. Multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter Sydney Worthley writes for her family, for her friends, and for you. She has big things planned for 2017, so keep an eye on this powerful young woman as she makes strides into her future.
