10,000 Maniacs

One of the most critically acclaimed bands of the last three decades, 10,000 Maniacs were founded by Robert Buck, Dennis Drew, Steven Gustafson, John Lombardo and Natalie Merchant in the fall of 1981. Jerry Augustyniak joined in 1983. Natalie left in 1994 and Mary Ramsey joined as the new lead singer. Together with artists like R.E.M. they defined college rock and created the first wave of alternative rock bands and what became known as the alternative rock format on FM radio. This show is a must see!

Artist Bio

One of rock's most critically acclaimed bands. The quintet's pop-conscious, literate and lush aesthetic helped reshape FM radio. Along with bands like R.E.M., U2, The Smiths and The Police. 10,000 Maniacs is considered one of the primary architects of the college rock sound of the 1980s and '90's.

The Jamestown, New York born group first gained widespread recognition with 1987's In My Tribe which charted at #37 - an impressive feat for a pioneering alternative group. Rolling Stone Magazine voted this album (that went on to sell over 2 million copies) in the Top 100 of the releases of the decade. The band would later sell 3 million copies in 1992 of the landmark Our Time In Eden.

In 1994 Natalie Merchant announced that she was leaving for a solo career and 10,000 Maniacs continued on adding Mary Ramsey as lead vocalist. 10,000 Maniacs celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2011. The new album, Music From The Motion Picture, was released in early 2013.

10, 000 MANIACS is the 30 year collaboration between Jerome Augustyniak, Steven Gustafson and Dennis Drew joined by guitarist Jeffery Erickson backing the 20 year 10,000 Maniac vocalist / songwriter Mary Ramsey for an incredible live show!
