Donna The Buffalo returns to Infinity Hall Norfolk by overwhelming popular demand. Entering their 25^th year, the band continues to play a wonderful mix of country, zydeco tinged rock with a twist of Americana roots music that will force your toes to tap and fingers to pop. Their dedicated fans affectionately refer to themselves as “The Herd” and they show up in mass, so get your tickets before the box office stampede.

Artist Bio

Donna The Buffalo is not just a band, rather one might say that Donna The Buffalo has become a lifestyle for its members and audiences. Since 1989, the roots rockers have played thousands of shows and countless festivals including Bonnaroo, Newport Folk Festival, Telluride, Austin City Limits Festival, Merle Fest, and Philadelphia Folk Festival.

They’ve opened for The Dead and have toured with Peter Rowan, Del McCoury, Los Lobos, Little Feat, Jim Lauderdale, Rusted Root, and Railroad Earth to name a few. They also toured with Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen to help raise awareness about increased corporate spending in politics.

In 1991, the band started the Finger Lakes Grassroots Festival in Trumansburg, NY. The four day festival has become an annual destination for over 15,000 music lovers every year and was started as an AIDS benefit. It continues as a benefit for arts and education. To date, the event has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars and is now one of three Grassroots Festivals; the Bi-annual Shakori Hills fest in North Carolina and Virginia Key festival in Florida. In 2016 GrassRoots Culture Camp was introduced in Trumansburg, New York as four days of music, art, dance and movement workshops, including nightly dinners and dances.

City of the Sun is John Pita, Avi Snow and Zach Para. With two guitars, a box, and bells, they create a sound that is far greater than the sum of those parts. Their music has been called “a re-invention of acoustic music.” It’s instrumental, it’s worldly; sweeping from wide-screen post-rock dynamics to gypsy jazz syncopations, “they define experiential music.” Formed in NYC in the early 2010s, the trio has blazed a trail through the city playing everywhere from street corners, to lofts as Sofar Sounds alumni, to sold-out hotspots like Rockwood Music Hall, Mercury Lounge, and The Gramercy Theatre. They’ve shared stages with a diverse array of artists including Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member Marky Ramone, Matisyahu, and Greensky Bluegrass. City of the Sun has also traveled abroad to perform for exclusive TEDx showcases and TED Talks.
