The Delfeayo Marsalis Quintet

Artist Bio

Delfeayo Marsalis is one of the top trombonists, composers and producers in jazz today. He is an exceptional soloist who has toured nationally and internationally with his own groups, as well as those led by renowned bandleaders.

Delfeayo attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts High School, was classically trained at the Eastern Music Festival and Tanglewood Institute, and majored in both performance and audio production at Berklee College of Music. He earned a Masters degree in jazz performance at the University of Louisville and was conferred a doctorate by New England College.

Delfeayo is also a dedicated music educator. To inspire New Orleans youth through arts education, Delfeayo founded the Uptown Music Theatre in 2000 and has implemented its Kidstown After School in three New Orleans grammar schools. In addition, he has composed over 80 songs that help introduce kids to jazz through musical theatre and has reached over 5,000 students nationally with his Swinging with the Cool School soft introduction to jazz workshops.

I Giovani Solisti Chamber Orchestra-- Conductor: Emmett Drake

I Giovani Solisti is comprised of the most advanced stringed instrument musicians from Conard and Hall High Schools in West Hartford, CT. The widely-acclaimed ensemble performs a diverse repertoire selected from the finest string literature. The group performs locally, and also has performed throughout Europe, including Croatia, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Austria.

West Hartford Jazz All Stars--Conductors: Scott Porter and James Antonucci

The West Hartford Jazz All Stars is comprised of the most advanced jazz musicians from the Concert Jazz Bands at Conard and Hall High Schools. They rehearse specifically for the annual Gifts if Music Benefit Concert, performing a repertoire across the jazz spectrum. The widely acclaimed Concert Jazz Bands from both high schools perform locally, and have performed in various locations throughout Europe.
