As a tip of the hat and a gentleman's bow to Levon himself, Jim Weider, Randy Ciarlante and Garth Hudson, all members of THE BAND, invited Brian Isaacs and Jimmy Vivino (  both having performed in Levon's Ramble Band ) to join them in presenting the now legendary, "Concert In The Barn -  Songs of The Band”.

Traditional and social media coverage of the concert spawned global requests for additional performances. As an initial response, Weider, Ciarlante and Isaacs invited Brain Mitchell ( also a member of Levon's Ramble Band ) and instrumentalist, Marty Grebb, to answer the call. As demand increased and The Weight Band evolved, Weider and Mitchell added Albert Rogers ( bass ), Michael Bram ( drums ) and Matt Zeiner ( additional keyboards ) to solidify a five member touring lineup.

In that all members are also singer/songwriters, new original songs began to embellished a core concert set list of nuggets from THE BAND's treasured catalog. After four years of touring to enthusiastic audiences and experiencing an overwhelmingly positive response to the newly written material, the group decided to record an album. In addition to highlighting the new songs, a subliminal intent would be to capture The Band’s musical tradition by recording the project in a Woodstock area studio, including both a past BAND hit ( co-written by Weider ) and a previously un-released song written for THE BAND, topped off by incorporating a few high profile guest appearances.

Released in late Feb. of this year, “WORLD GONE MAD”, has garnered stellar reviews and continues to receive significant airplay.

Jim Weider (guitar, mandolin, singer/songwriter):  Member of the legendary group, THE BAND as Levon's specific choice to replaced Robbie Robertson. From 1985 to 2000 Jim subsequently toured internationally with THE BAND, contributed to three of their studio albums ( Jericho, High on the Hog, Jubilation ), and was featured in numerous films, videos and television appearances. Jim also continues to be member of Levon Helm's Midnight Ramble Band, the touring super-group "Masters of the Telecaster" and his own group, Project Percolator.

Brian Mitchell (keyboards, singer/songwriter): Well-known within the circles of the music industry for his stellar musicianship, impressive solo career and high-profile collaborations ( Levon Helm, Bob Dylan, Al Green, B.B. King, and countless others ). In addition to being a current and founding member of The Weight Band, Brian continues to remain as a significant member of The Levon Helm Midnight Ramble Band.

Albert Rogers ( Bass, singer/songwriter ) One of the most respected/accomplished musicians on the scene today, Albert has performed with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson, Sid McGinnis, Hubert Sumlin, Jimmy Vivino and Albert Lee ( among many others ).

Michael Bram: ( Drums, singer/songwriter )  As a multi-instrumentalist, Michael "Leroy" Bram has been a staple in the New York music scene for years. In addition to his  multi tasking role with The Weight Band, he remains as the first call drummer for Jason Mraz as well as having been a co-conspirator with Willie Nelson and Bob Margolin of The Last Waltz fame. Michael's connection to THE BAND comes by way of the extended community who played at Levon's barn, where for many years he drummed in the Chris O'Leary Band, an offshoot of players from another of Levon's projects, The Barnburners.

Matt Zeiner (Keyboards, singer/songwriter) Matt began his career with Hartford Connecticut's famed Street Temperature Band and then hit the road with Matt “Guitar” Murphy of Blues Brothers fame. Matt has also worked with the Shaboo Allstars – a regional super group with a rotating cast. This lead to an extensive period as a touring member of the Dickey Betts Band as well as producing and/or writing for Jeff Pevar, Melvin Sparks, Zach Deputy, Ryan Montbleau, Jaimoe (Allman Brothers), and many others.
